Haryana’s best financial management among states: Khattar

Stating that Haryana’s financial management is the best of all states, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday that it was the government’s most crucial responsibility to manage public funds properly.

The CM, which was laying the foundation stone for Vitt Bhawan in Panchkula, said revenue collection dropped during the coronavirus period and an additional expenditure of 1,500 crore was also incurred, the financial management of the state government was appreciated by the Centre.

“The finance department is the backbone of government, and those with sound financial management will surely climb the ladder of success,” Khattar said, stressing the need to control corruption and tax evasion.

The Vitt Bhawan, which is being built in Panchkula at a cost of 80 crore, will house different branches of the finance department.

The opposition presented rigged figures

Accusing the opposition of presenting incorrect figures regarding the debt accumulated by the government, he said that in 2014, when the BJP took power, the state had a debt of 98,000 crore, while the opposition claimed it was 61,000 crores.

“In 2014-2015, the government had a debt 71,000 crore, while the electricity department had to 27,000 crore. The government absorbed the 27,000 crores in debt, pushing the numbers to 98,000 crore,” he said.
