The United States Embassy in Beirut invites the public to register for an online course entitled “Public Financial Management” offered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This IMFx course is designed to build participants’ capacities to assess why public financial management (PFM) is important; and how it supports macroeconomic stability, economic growth and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Presented by staff from the International Monetary Fund who advise countries on their PFM institutions and reform plans, the course provides a practitioner’s perspective on PFM starting with what PFM is and why it is. important. In five parts, course modules cover all stages of the budget cycle and discuss key concepts from budget preparation to government responsibility in budget execution and reform implementation.
This course is offered by the IMF, with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Course dates and format
Participants will explore this course at their own pace.
In addition to the online courses, participants will be invited to attend a virtual discussion session (also called a facilitated session) or a workshop offered by an expert in the field of Public Finance. Please note that you do not have to choose the paid part of the course to attend the session organized by the Embassy. You can take the course for free and access course materials, videos, and readings. The free option will not allow you to get an EdX certificate. You can choose the paid option if you wish.
The U.S. Embassy is looking for candidates interested in the topic of the course and committed to participate in the facilitated virtual session after the deadline.
How to register:
First, please visit the course page and apply online and second, complete the survey to register for the Embassy-hosted virtual session that will be offered in conjunction with this MOOC. Complete these of them steps forward November 19, 2021 (11:59 p.m. Beirut time).
No fee is required to participate in the online course and additional virtual session.
Applicants who complete the online course and attend the facilitated session or workshop will receive certificates from the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
